When is my half birthday?

On Fun Age Calculator, your half birthday is six calendar months from your regular birthday. A June 7 birthday has a December 7 half birthday. A January 12 birthday has a July 12 half birthday.

The calculator finds the next half birthday from today, gives the weekday and counts how many calendar days are left.

What date is six months after my birthday?

For most birthdays, move forward six calendar months and keep the same day number. January 15 becomes July 15, April 8 becomes October 8, and June 7 becomes December 7.

The only tricky cases are dates near the end of a month. If the month six months later does not have that day number, the calculator moves to the last valid day of that month.

Half birthday month pairs

Each birth month has one month six months across the calendar: January pairs with July, February with August, March with September, April with October, May with November, and June with December. The same pairs work in reverse.

The day number normally stays the same, subject to the month-end rule for dates such as the 29th, 30th or 31st.

Is a half birthday exactly half a year?

There is no single universal rule. Some people mean six calendar months after a birthday. Others mean half the elapsed time between birthdays. This site uses the six-calendar-month rule because it is simple and easy to repeat each year.

That means a half birthday is not always exactly 182 or 183 days after a birthday. The months between the dates can have different lengths.

What happens with birthdays on the 29th, 30th or 31st?

Most dates move cleanly by six months, but month-end birthdays need an extra rule. If the destination month does not have the same day number, the calculator uses the last valid day of that month.

For example, a birthday on August 31 moves six months into February. Because February does not have a 31st, the half birthday lands on the final day of February for that year.
